Hi everyone,

I have 2005 federal account transcrip and 2006-2009 tax return transcrip. got it from 1-800-829-1040.

well, I read post that you only need to take this with you.

I decided to take the california tax return or transcript with to the interview, just in case.

i think that they only provided current year and prior 3 years. Where can I get the California tax return transcript???. How and where can I get the 2005 return or account transcript??.

Thanks

I am not familiar with specific requirements for CA or for specifics of that person's case you refer to but per the standard national checklists of what to bring to the interview in terms of tax info, everything focuses on federal returns/transcripts.
I took copies of my state returns but did not need them. I established proof of residence with my driver's license (which shows issue date, etc.) and also had 3+ years worth of utility bills, insurance, and banking information. In my interview to IO was particularly suspicious of using tax returns as proof for anything more than filing/paying taxes. He did not accept them in support of proving the validity/duration of my marriage to USC or anything else.
I agree that it is better to be fully prepared with everything that comes to mind but since in my state, you cannot easily get state tax transcripts I did not worry about it and this did not cause any issues. I brought tons of other stuff per the checklist which I ended up needing.

Maybe somebody with experience in your state or DO can add to this as needed.

One person I rad was requested to provide 5 years state returns as a proof of residence.
That's likely because his/her state residency was in question. If you've remained at the same address and haven't traveled extensively then you have nothing to worry about.

Bobsmyth,

In what ways does the USCIS use the state returns to prove state residency ? What about the case in which the candidate moved to the state in which he applied just 3 months before application, but has met all the conditions for physical presence and continuous residence in US? Would that be an issue?
