I have paid around 6K to my lawyer in 2002 for the GC process.
Can i claim any tax credit on this amount?

You can give it a try. If IRS refuses to accept this deduction then at worst you will owe taxes. You will have to itemize deductions also the amount claimed as deduction should be greater than the standard deduction for your status (single/joint) to get any real benefit.
 
Nope it does not qualify as any deductable expense.

and do not try stuff with IRS you will only end up screwing yourself up....


go ask HR Block or a paid tax prep.
 
You can't

for claiming H1 B expenses you can but for GC expenses you can't. I heard this from my tax consultant.
