Hi,
I am a legal permanent resident since 2000. I got married in 2002 and my wife is still in my home country. I can apply for naturalization in Feb ‘2005.
I filed my tax return for both 2002 and 2003 as a single because my wife doesn’t have ss# or itin. As far as I know, I have to write down my wife’s ss# or itin in order to file as a married filing jointly or individual. Now, I know I can file amend return for those two years once I have my wife’s ss# or itin. The question is:
**Would it be a problem for me (naturalization) because of my single filing status even though I am married?
** Is it possible for my wife to apply for itin while she is in my home country?
Reply to my e-mail would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help.
