What a great day today!! Like my signature says "Today Is The Best Day Of My Life".
I had interview scheduled for 1 PM. I gave myself 1.5 hours to get there that includes about 1 hour of driving. I have been there at the DO few times during the whole immigration ordeal and I was quite aware where I was going. But, to my surprise, around Tampa Airport area, there have been lots of road construction going and and exis to the Spruce St. (International Mall) used to be on the far right lanes and now it is far left lanes. Obviously I missed that out so I had to make a U turn at Kennedy then find way back. Well, when I thought, I was right on my way back, there was a "No Entry" at Frontage Rd.. By this time it was already 12:20 PM and I started to panick. I guessed a service road and followed it. Surprisingly, I made it to W Cyprus then rest was walk on the cake. When I arrived there was plenty of parking. I got right there in the front of the building.
Parked car and got out and found about 7 people waiting outside the main door. One oriental looking gentleman was at the door who collected my letter and asked me to wait at the trailer and he went in closed the door. I did not quite understood what he meant so I asked other people around and they said to wait right there infront of the building and when it comes to 1 PM they will call your name. As 1 PM approaced there were few more people...you could see people for I-485...lots of files and papers and nice photo albums and stuff. Any way, back on track, I asked another gentleman at the door that I had given my letter to a previous gentleman and I did not quite understand what he had said. Second gatekeeper told me to go to the Trailer and wait inside and they will call your name. I went inside and it was much better...nice and AC. After less then 10 mins, I heard my name called at 1:05 PM. I went to the main door again and confirmed that my name was called. After went thru the security, one gentleman asked me if I were (My name). I said Yes and he asked me to follow him. After few double doors...multiple swipings at each doors I was at the AO's room. On the way to his room...we exchanged how are you and stuff. Once in the room, I was asked to swear to tell the truth then I sat down on a chair. My file was there in front of him...not that big. I remember, my college projects were fatter then that! Any way, he asked me to give him my GC and DL and went thru the applications....basic information such as name and address and spouse and children information and jobs and other sections of the N400. I told him that I have a new job since I filed N400 and that I had brought an updated copy. AO told me not to worry about it and he wrote at the very buttom of the section my new job info. When it came to Moral character and stuff and he talks to himself that "I see you have arrests". I told him that I was never arrested and that that was infact traffic citations. Then he asked me if I paid the fines and stuff and I said Yes. With his bold red pen he put X in 'Yes" part and circled 'No' part. He told me it was not necesarry. At least I was being honest to put it there. After that few more things on the form. Then he asked me to read a line from the Interview that "I will bear an arm...." and then he started asking me civic tests and US Government questions. There were 10 questions printed in a paper and he asked me from the pre-printed list. I answered all six questions. After that he tells me here comes the most hardest test...write a sentence "I want to become a US Citizen". We smiled.
After that he had a little computer glitch. He told me "you tell me since you are the computer expert". We laughed again. Then comes the golden moment, he gave me a print out to sign and it says that I passed and Congratulations stuff. After that he kept the original and gave me another printed copy to keep. Then he talked about Oath. He told me that I will hear about it in a mail and that this will be held at Tampa Convention Center and that I could bring guests. He asked me if I had any questions. I asked when do I expect and he answered some time in October. I said Thank you and we shook hands and said "Congratulations!". He walked me out and I was out with a grin of satisfaction, accomplishments, pride, and happiness.
