So an FBI agent came to my desk (i work at a front desk) trying to find a company that actually was not in my building. Realizing an opportunity, i was so friendly, tryign to find out information but he was like a brick wall. So clever in steering the conversation away from the background checks FBI does but he was so friendly. Interesting though, he said the FBI does not usually take 2 years to complete a background checks and they use a lot of contractors. He said, you are probably hung up in adjudication in USCIS. Very curious, now i am wondering if USCIS is holding back stuff and not really sharing with the public. I am starting to think that USCIS is a lot worse than we think. I think there is a lot of disorganization there. We know that they lack common sense in that agency but could it be much worse than that? I am starting to think that a lot of these cases might actually be USCIS. My senantor was able to find out that the background check request was sent to the FBI but they would not say the all important WHEN claiming sensitive issues that they dont have to reveal.

I do think background checks some times do take that long. Annecdotal evidence shows letters from Mrs. Bush and others after being stuck 1 and 2+ years in the FBI name check limbo has led to letters from FBI that results sent etc. No doubt USCIS also drops the ball, in the main it is FBI where the name check delays occur. This is not a high priority area for them:)

Thanks :) . That blows my theory out of the water. I guess in my frustration i am grasping at straws. I hope you are right about writing Barbara Bush because i have written a letter to her too. Hopefully it will help. Just tired adn frustrated. Waiting for Pro Se Package, then i am filing. :(

Just remember that it's not always the FBI's fault. It's not only the FBI name check. There is another name check called the IBIS Name check - and it's done by the USCIS!

frustrated_alot - did you file your suit pro se already? I know last week you were trying to get the package. If so, that will set some things in motion, but just as importantly, you need to get to the bottom of this at the USCIS - someone at the infopass HAS to be able to give you some definitive info.

It seems highly probable to me that the field agent you talked to knows little to nothing about immigration and the namecheck process. The FBI is a large organization which is probably highly compartmentalized. You got to ask the right person...
