Talked with Lawyer

the slow approval of 485 is mainly because of the economy. I am really concerned about another terror attack on US land. If that really happens, its impact will be worst than the Sep11 attack. However as you said that should not give any reason for slow 485 approval. But the point is INS is not so smart to arrive at your conclusion

I share your concerns that sooner or later the number of alien workers are going to be limited. But this is nothing new. As the economy goes up and down, so does the number of H-1bs.

The more important question is, what's going to happen to people who are already here with H-1s and who have expressed interest in a permanent resident status. Historically, Republican Governments have always been anti-immigrant. They were able to show that in subtle ways in the past. Post 9/11, they are more blatant. Remember that justice department wanted to shut down immigration immediately after 9/11? I agree that one more attack and we can pack our bags. Like you all, i also pray that there be no more such stupid attacks for more than one reason. Rightwing groups are active throughout the world after 9/11.

Since we all do not have voting rights, the only way to seek political support is to contribute to election campaign of people whom we believe will be our voice in congress. We are all fairly well to do (financially) and it's about time we start thinking about doing something, as a group.

And one more thing: You all must have noticed the strong support from time to time for illegal immigrants (mostly from mexico) to get them legal status, driver's licence etc.,. there is really no such support favoring LEGAL IMMIGRANTS- such as facilitation approvals for pending applications. Ever wondered why?
Money talks; Money walks- particularly in politics. After all, it is a capitalistic society.
