I talked to an IIO yesterday for the first time in the last 4 & half years to personally check what\'s going on with my
485. IIO told me that my case is on hold since the visa numbers are not available. Here is my details. Btw, this is
the first time I am posting my details in this board.

Country: India/EB3.
PD: March 97 - Current
RID/ND: Aug.99/ Sept.99
FP: Aug. 1st 2000.
 
Waiting along with millions of others. Hoping to hear some good news on or before end of 2001. Good Luck to all.

So, your PD is current and IIO said visa number are not available. Does it mean that there will not be any more GCs until they get new visa quota after Oct 1, 2001 ???

It is possible that the PD "will become current on Jan 01, 2001", depending on what the actual PD is. If that is the case, it can explain why Sam Rajesh claims that the PD is current but the IIO says that visa numbers are not available. We can ascertain once we know the ACTUAL PD....

Please tell your experience in how to reach IIO of VSC. I tried to call them many time. The phone always disconnected automatically after a few second busy ring. Should I held phone even there is no any signal ?

I think both are correct in their own ways. While Sam is right in saying that his PD (March 17, 1997) - EB3 India is current, INS is also right in saying that visa #s are not available as the new Visa Bulletin only becomes effective on Jan 01, 2001. Till Dec 31, 2000, the cutoff date for EB3 India is guided by the previous Visa Bulletin date of Mar 8, 1997. So Sam\'s date being current applies from Jan 1, 2001.
