Switching from 485/EAD to L2/EAD

Once the 485 based EAD is used for work, does it invalidate the L2 non-immigrant status automatically ? If yes, then once the L2 based EAD becomes available, is it possible to revert back to the L2 status. Does this require some "adjustment of status" type of application to be filed ?

We want to use the L2 based EAD instead of the 485 based EAD for work because of potential issues in case 485 gets denied. Its recommended on these forums to maintain a valid L2 status.
 
using EAD from AOS invalidates L2 status.
You can regain L2 status by entering the US with L2 visa provided L1 primary still maintain L1 status.
