Switching back to H4 from EAD

Couple of questions for the gurus here....

1. If my wife starts working using her EAD(I'll still be on H1) and God forbid something happens to our 485 application, how simple/easy is it for her to switch back to H4 status? Is it as simple as filing the I-539 form or will she have to go out of the US and get her visa stamped etc.

2. Also, if my wife gets her EAD and she uses it to apply for a SSN, but doesn't start working...is it still deemed that she is on EAD and her H4 is invalid?

Any input is appreciated.

-if at that time she has valid H4 visa stamp then she should go out and reenter she will get I-94 based on H4 status. if at that time she does not have valid H4 visa stamp she should go out get H4 stamp and can enter on H4(if you are on H1 status at that time)

-------getting SSN based on EAD is not work she will be on H4 status.getting EAD does not invalidate her H4 status. if she use EAD for work then she will invalidate H4 status.
Any input is appreciated.
