switch from CP to AOS

Hello, i am a citizen of India with EB3 PD of Sept 2004. I-140 is cleared too. Have completed 6 years under H1-B and now in its extension period till Sept 2010. The NVC has completed its processing of the visa petition and has forwarded the petition to the US Embassy in Mumbai for further processing in Aug 2007. Now its just a frustrating waiting game. I was thinking about switching to I-485 in order to obtain the benefits of advance parole and EAD. Does my PD have to be current in order to switch to AOS while filing form i-824?

The PD must be current for you to file the I-485. In your case I cannot see any advantage to switching now.
