Experience

Medical
--------
Went to the Lister labs at 7:45 AM, payed the fees in cash and they took an X-ray and drew blood for HIV test and I collected the
reports the same day at 5:30, the lab is the 3rd building from
the main building.
After the Lister lab stuff we went to Camera citi for the immigration
style photo 100 bucks for 8 copies he does a pretty good job.
I took Dr V appointment on the following day at 10:30 and
I was called in or rather I should say I barged into her office at
12:30, her assistant is useless and she lets ppl go randomly and
there is no meaning in taking the appt, Dr V herself apologised and
told me to tell the forum that only one person should take an
appointment as ppl make dummy appt\'s on 2 days and pick which
ever is convient to them, that morning ppl who did not have
appt went in.., she is very good and I highly recomment her
as she talks to U well and she gave us MMR and chickenpox vaccination
payed 4600/- . Please take extra photograph with U when U visit her.
That is pretty much what happened with Medicals.

Interview.
---------
Reached consulate at 7:45 AM, showed the appointment letter, some of them did not have and they accepted the case # printout from Chennai website.
We were all directed to the visa office, and went in, ppl who went early got seats to sit, the order of the docs is as mentioned by
SriFix and I followed the same order, the security guy asked us
to go to one counter to submit the forms and I went there and
submitted the forms, he gave me the blue dart form and asked
me to pay the application fees of 12,740/- they gave a recepit for
that hang on to that.we were asked to go and wait under the tent
just outside the visa office, and one American lady came out
and we all took the oath. that was the only time I saw an American.
Later after 30 minutes my name was called and the guy was browsing
my application in front of me and opened a file and started adding
all the documentation,
First he asked for an employed verification letter, I had submitted
the santdard employer notarized letter and he asked me for one more
on the company letter head, I was very nervous and I used my own wits
and asked him, if I could give my latest pay stub, he readily accepted
that as a piece of evidence for the letter, and he asked me for
my tax papers for 2000, and I gave him the copy.
He was going thru my wife\'s application and since she has never entered the US, he asked for additional photos. I gave him the album
he browsed every singe photo and he asked to me go back and wait
..and he told me that he has to do some more verification.. I was
getting very tensed with the whole thing !!!
after 20 more minutes he called my name and went to the counter
and this time it was a different guy and he told me that everything
is OK and I have to go and pay the issuance fee, the bluedart
fees was collected when they called me for the second time and I also
had to give the application fee recepit.
Payed the issuance fee thanked my stars for the day and after the
whole thing the process looked very simple.
I gave a local address and got the passports the next day, at 4 PM
U have to give a copy of U\'r appointment letter to the bluedart guy
when he delivers.
Please verify all the contents on the front cover and take a photocopy
of that as that is the only proof U have.
I went to the consulate at 7:45 was out by 11:30....

POE
----
Came yesterday, POE is SFO, all the journey Blr/Frankfurt I had
to show my visa packet as my visa in the passport had expired.
Other than that stood in the New Immigrant line in SFO airport
I-551 form, took the finger prints and a signature, asked me
who my employer was and asked me for how long I have been with
the company and he was very nice and was friendly.
told me that I will get the plastic card in another 6 months.

Thanks

Got I-140 on 11th jan 2002, How does the process work after that (CP)?

Can some one tell me in brief how the process works
How do I know that a case was created for me at NVC how do I track that and can I get the phone number of NVC.

Thanks.

Camera CITI is right opp. chola sheraton

Here is the number where you can reach the NVC. 603 334-0700. After calling this number you have to go through the menus. If you enter a wrong file number and press 0 you should be able to speak to an operator. They will tell you based on your lastname and birthdate I believe whether a case is created or not.

Thanks for the number

Can you tell me how long does it take for a case to be created my I 140 was approved on Jan 11, 2002.
