:) Here are my details: :) :p

CP EB3 at Mumbai
Applicant: Myself
Dependent: Wife
Son: US citizen.

Medicals:

Went to Breach Candy Hospital on 21st Feb. Reached hospital around 7:30am. There was a queue in front of Annex Building. There were 31 visa medicals scheduled for that day. (This hospital gets maximum immigration cases. You can try other if you need faster service.)
First Blood collection & X ray for both of us. We were recalled around 10:30am same day for physical checkup. We did not carry any medical history records. During checkup we were asked about any past issues and vaccination. Last they gave us MMR. Out of hospital before 12pm. Collected reports at 4pm.

Same day during medical, we took pictures at My own photo studio which is located next to consulate. This guy is making huge profit as 6 copies for 200Rs one-hour delivery but worth it…

Interview:

Came to consulate around 7:10am as scheduled for 7:30am. There was a queue for immigrant visa around 10 people. Entered consulate building around 7:55am. We carried all our papers in a polythene bags. Read all instructions before taking any other items.

We were called for paper collection around 8:10am. An Indian Gentleman collected following papers for me as applicant:

Passport
Pcc
BC copy
MC copy
Medical report excluding Xray
DS230 I & II (As our information in DS230 I was old & outdated, we gave them new. Otherwise needs DS 230 II only.)
Company letter notarized.

Same Indian gentleman collected following papers for my wife as dependent:

Passport
Pcc
BC copy
MC copy
Medical report excluding Xray
Affidavit of support I 134 notarized.

This Indian man was very polite. We took our 4-month-old baby into the consulate, He did not ask my wife to do any work. I was asked to do all her paper work. Once he even asked her to sit down as paper collection and verification was taking little long.

I was asked to sign one paper, which was about working for same employee after GC approval for sometime & informing any status change. On DS230 I, we were asked to give local Mumbai address. After collection, he asked us to wait for interview.

Around 9:30am, we were called for interview. One young American with Indian lady to help were there at counter #09. First we took oath & Following questions asked to me:

What your company name? Xxxx
What’s your salary? Yyyy
Company address?
How far is home to work place? 17 miles.
How do you go to work? Gave him Mass transit company name.
Do you like your work?
How many years are you working with this employer? 4
Are you a software developer? No system Administrator.
Gave him little & quick job description.

Following questions for my wife:

What’s your name? Abc
What do you do in US? Housewife
Why? H4 cannot work.
What is your son’s status? Citizen.
Son’s DOB? 12 34 56

Done. We were asked to collect papers at 3:30pm same day. Also I requested them to give our document in separate packets as my wife plans to stay there for a month and joined me after.

There is no need for all members to be present to collect papers, hence I asked my wife to take son home and rest. I was in queue around 3:30pm and collected all papers at 4pm. Verified 2 separate packets and immigrant visa stamp on our passports.

Note: Consulate staff was very polite and helping. Please submit papers, which are asked. Do not give any affidavits or notarized copies unless asked. It is always good to keep those papers with you for just in case. You can see list of docs asked to me.

POE: I entered US at Philadelphia yesterday. No transit visa required at London (British Airways) as they accept this immigrant stamp on the passport. At POE, I went to the GC / Citizen queue. I was asked to go to immigration office next to baggage room with papers.
I have to give passport; GC envelope & customs form at the counter. After 10 minutes, office asked me to sign & finger printed at 2 places. My passport was stamped with arrival stamp and welcomed as US immigrant. He did not ask X ray report as I confirmed twice. Now I should get my plastic card in next 1 month.

I have to wait for my wife’s arrival next month to USA. No problem expected.

Note: Overall this whole CP process is fast, smooth and easy if you got all papers. There is no need to worry. Most important thing is to do what is asked to do.

Thanks to all my seniors who took time to explain their interview on this web site. That helps a lot. Also thanks to the owner of this portal who started this community service. Feel free to ask any questions if needed…thanks.
:p :)

sandeep,

congrats to you and ur family!

two Qs:

1) did you have to take any advance permission to take your USC child with you (assuming he had no application pending at the consulate)? or just show up with the child at the consualte and they let you in?
2) what baby items were you allowed to take with you? and any special security checking of the items?

thanks and best of wishes with your new stamp of approval!

You don't have to take your daughter to the interview. Just carry her
passport, birth certificate.

Answer1) : No advance permission required. We took him with us. They did not even ask anything. Infants are not restricted.

2) We did not carry any bag, stroller. Just use polythene bag for diapers, rash cream, clothes. Since my son is nursed by mother, we did not carry formula tin.

Srikar45,

You don't need to take your USC kid to consulate if she / he can stay without you for few hours. My son is just 4 months. You may need USC passport & BC.
regarding surgery, you can call hospital & check. Lilavati hospital staff was answering questions better than other hospital staff when i called for scheduling my medical. Try calling there..
