Hey Kirwana,
am so happy to get your reply. and am glade that you have been through the whole thing. Before recieving your email, it felt like i was the only ugandan on the web.

This is my current status, Right now am waiting for my interview date in the letter. KCC confirmed through an email that they recieved my documents and that i wait for the letter directing me about my interview.

where are you now? i would really like to know about your experience before the visa and after moving, that is if you moved.

I have a few questions for you. how did you go about the financial requirement? who did you use to sign your affidavit of support, that is if thats the mode you adopted.

Am a bit conserned about the permanenet persons address i put on the forms i sent to KCC. i used a friends address, who right now i think has moved. how should i go about that, should i send a letter notifying them about the change( am going to do, with regard to the address my Permanent residence visa should be sent to)

Okey, a part from the questions above, am really glade to hear from you. thanks for the reply. hope to hear from you

feel free to write and ask any stuff, the hardest part before the interview is the medical examination, you`ll get these forms on the 2nd NL,please some times it can take ages to receive this 2nd NL,so you can call KCC,and give them you case number, they will tell you exactly when your interview will be,they can even send you they forms on e-mail,,avoid yahoo emails, for this.
once you`ve known the interview date, you`ll compile all the info, police ,affidavidavit and all your original academic documents, plus recommndation letters from your employer...

Birth Certificate

My wife is a 2009 DV winner and currently dont have a birth certificate to prove that she was born in UGANDA. She was born in Nsambya Hospital Kampala but only has a church baptism card from Nsambya.

My questions are :

a) Now that we live in UAE, how do we get a birth certificate from Nsambya Hospital. Appreciate if you can provide contact numbers/department to get in touch.
b) Will the Ugandan Embassy/Consulate help us to obtain the certificate? Do you know if there are any Ugandan embassies in UAE?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply on the thread.
Getting a birth certificate in uganda is easy. the offices where you go and provide your details and apply for a new birth certificate are in kampala.

the location is above buganda road court. i have forgotten the building. ( its a department called, registration of births and death certificates department. i just got mine early this year. i can help you with the name of the place next time i come on line.

it will cost her between 35,000 to 70,000 depending on whom you find on the counter. i will get in touch with name of the place next time. you dont need a recommendation or anything. all you do is walk in and apply and you get one.

dont worry. talk to you when i get on line

location of birth certificate offices

Hey,

tell your wife to go to AMMAMU house. its in Kampala, above buganda road court. when she gets there, she should ask for the floor where the office issuing birth and death certificates is located.

application is done when u get thr. she should go with her particulars, bate of birth, mothers and fathers name, hospital where she was born from etc.

it costs little. the earlier the better, some times those guys take long to process for you one. so Good luck

Thanks for the info

Many thanks for the info.

My wife is an Indian Citizen and we are now living in UAE. Do you know if there are any centres or Ugandan Consulate in UAE who can help us obtain a birth certificate?

Thanks

Do it this way

Hi,

I dont think so, If you have a relative in uganda, use that person. i know for sure you dont need to be there to get one. someone got for me mine.

All you need to do is send the particulars to a realative in uganda, with a little money. then you will get it. Forget about the Consulate.

were still a bit backwords in regards to document keeping and particulars. Just get a relative, they will do it for you.

consulate, am not sure.

take care

Obtained Birth Certificate

Thanks ireb for your help.

I managed to get a original BC signed by the registrar for births/deaths in Uganda.

I have one more question.

Is Form I-134 compulsory or the bank statements for the last 6 months suffice? Do you know who much in terms of funds in the bank would be considered good? I dont have anyone in the States and not sure how to go about getting this form completed.

Appreciate your comments.

Thanks once again for your support.

Hi

user8901,
I am glade i helped.

Back to your question, what i know is ther two ways to prove you have funds to take care of your self when you get to the United States. The first one is, YOU GET SOME ONE FROM THE STATES TO SIGN FOR YOU AN AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (FORM 1-134). THEN THEY RETURN IT BACK TO YOU WITH THEIR BANK STATEMENT.

TWO, if you have enough funds on your account where ever you are, you just have to bring your bank statement of a certain amout to the consulate (20,000-25,000 $) minimum. Look at the poverty guideline on the website for DV lottary ( for the state).

So if you have the money on you, your personal bank account, then you wont need to fill that form. that form is for people who are going to rely on a citzen of a USA to sponser them. You dont need it if you have the funds.

But you will need a conatcat address. ( where the green card will be sent) either way, you need to get some one in the states.

FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY
UGANDA

Hello All,

good to see a Ugandan forum. Just want to wish all well and hope i can be of any help with certain questions people might have. Back in 2006/7 when i first came to this board there wasnt a Ugandan forum so i am pleasantly surprised that my curiosity that brought me back here again led me to this forum.

I didnt know that the medicals had to be taken from Nairobi. I had thought all along that those could be done in Uganda now. Personally, I did mine (as well as the whole process) from the UK.

All the best

Hi nakasero, Um

Hi,

thanks for joining us. i have been reading thru the threads you wrote. congs on going through successfully. pray for us.

I would like to ask you a few questions. From your threads of 2006, it looks like you had your medical examinations in the UK, where did you have your interview from? was it nairobi or UK?

How did you go about the medical examination. My case number is due in Feb. right now am looking forward to taking a journey from Uganda to kenya for the medical examinations before i recieve my 2NL letter.

How should i go about it, like do you have any idear about how i can contact doctors thr (nairobi) so that i set up an appointment in Nairobi with the doctors before traveling? i want to ask for leave for two weeks from my place of work and make sure all is done in that time and i just wait to ask for second leave to go to the embarssy. Help guide me

Secondly, Can some one get the vaccinations needed from my doctor here in Uganda and i just take the certificates to the doctor in Nairobi showing them that i accomplished all vacinations, will that be accepted.

I am trying to reduce the time in Nairobi. please help me out.

Thanks again for coming back to the website. Your God sent.

Take care, hope to hear from you

Hey,

congratulations first of all that you received the first NL.

I (or actually we) went through the whole process in the UK. The medicals were done in the UK. The 2nd NL letter informs you where to take the medical from i.e. with which doctors. It cant just be any doctors of your choice. On completion of the medicals, the results are sent directly to the US embassy, where they will have them during the interview.

The 2nd NL letter usually comes a whole month before your scheduled interview date. This gives u plenty of time to schedule your medicals. The letter also informs you that if you cant take your medicals before your scheduled interview, becoz of say scheduling backlog issues with the clinic, then you can still do them after your visa interview. BUT, your visa wont be processed till you have done the medicals and they have received the results. Remember, the results go straight to them not given to you.

I would suggest you wait till thet 2nd NL letter comes. And immediately it does, call the clinic and schedule an appointment. Then sort out your leave. The medicals for us took about 3 hours i'd say - and thats becoz we were 3. Its a simple straight-forward process.

What you can do though, in order to decrease your costs of the extra shots they might give you then and charge you for it there, is to bring your immunizations upto date.

For instance, we thought we had all our immunizations spot on, but what we didnt know is that in the US, Yellow Fever, or something like that - pardon me i cant remember which one exactly it was - is given again as a booster during teen years. So we had to be given those shots there and we were charged for it.

So look up your immunization certificate and make sure you have taken all the required shots. You can go to any doctor and ask them which ones need to be given a booster. Am really sorry here that i dont remember which one it was that we had to be given a booster for. Then get the boosters taken at any clinic at an affordable price.

Also, make sure when you go to Nairobi for the medical you have enough spare cash on you for whatever else they might ask you to pay for. Dont have the minimum required for the medical.

I hope this answers your questions. But if anything isnt clear, please ask again.

While you are also waiting for that 2nd NL, work towards getting everything they listed on the 1st NL.
