Successful POE at JFK New York

SB-2004

Registered Users (C)
Successful interview on June 22nd. I was the last one to get inside the embassy in our time slot (7:30), one of the last few during document submission to the indian lady and the first one to be interviewed ! We were outside the embassy before 9:00am. (Good I didn't opt for VFS transport from their office to embassy...have to come early and also have to pay Rs.200 each)

Questions for me: Company name, salary and location
Questions for Spouse: years married, kids and if US citizens.

Picked up the passport same day at VFS office. IV applicants don't have to stand in the queue to pick up the passport.

POE JFK - July 10th:
Absolutely no questions asked. Officer just confirmed whether we are going to live at the address mentioned in the application. We were directed to a room for finger printing. Since we had infant with us, the lady supervisor promptly arranged for somebody to have our fingerprintings done. We were out of the room in less than 15 mins. Again no questions asked.

Finally journey is over. Good luck to all those who are waiting.

poe question

Hi...congrats
We have recieved our immigrant Visa IV in our passports which is valid for
6 months till dec 2007. Due to personal reasons. we may not leave for POE till Oct/Nov 2007. The question is

1. Is the 6 month time frame given on the Visa to enter considered as being out of country for 6 months or ...does the clock start the day you enter POE and from there the 6 months out of country policy start...
because we may have to just enter...
set up some things and apply for re-entry permit later

any input thnks

Six Months from the date of issuance.

An immigrant visa is valid for a maximum period of six months from the date of issuance. You must travel and apply for admission to the United States within that six months period. A visa may not be transferred from one person to another, or used by any person other than the one to whom issued.

Check out the instructions on Mumbai consulate website
http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivpktfour.html

Look for "VISA VALIDITY"

Thanks again...

So the imm visa has to be used within the 6 mos. So I am safe to assume that the imm visa is valid and cannot be revoked or called back or invalidated
by some change in immigration rules that are going on nowadays

Just want to be sure and on the safe side...as long as we use it by 6 mos time. no new rules can affect our issuance visa already given.

Thanks

Hello Dezi,
You have 6 months to enter the US (Complete POE process). Once the visa is Validated (Ie Stamped) it is good for 1 yr . It says on the visa itself that once validated the I-551 stamp is good for 1 yr. You should receive your Plastic Gren Card by that time. Once you get the Card then thats all you use.

You are safe in waiting till Oct/Nov 2007 to enter the US, since your IV visa is valid till Dec.

Less than 6 month IV visa

Hi,

I would like to know embassy informed me that beneficiary and daughter administrative processing is completed but wife is pending. As medical expires in two month (received call from embassy) for all three of us in November 2007, they say you and daughter (3 year old) can enter before the expiration of medical and will be issued 3 month visa, if agrees.

Has anyone come across this where EB3 beneficiary and daughter (dependent) is clear and wife is pending? What options do I have? I thought all three of us will be getting Immigrant visa (GC) at the same time. Does anyone think that by end of this month all will be clear?

Also, If above takes too much time can they request for sending new medical again. Will I be end up again in this administrative processing. What chances are that wife will also get visa, as still two months are remaining. Closer to two month time before medical expires, can I request to issue mine only and tell them to hold daughter visa until mother gets clearance or will they not issue at all to any of us till everyone gets clear.

Thanks
