First of all thanks a lot to CPTracker, immigrationportal.com and immihelp.com. Information/postings on these forums were extremely useful. Our experiences were very similar to most other posting these forums. Here is a quick summary of our interview experience:

Medical: At Lilavati. Had to spend more time (5 hours) at the hospital than had anticipated. But it was smooth. Recommended.

Photos: My Own Studio. Little pricy, but recommended.

Draft: We had paid $260 to the NVC. So had to get draft for $65 in local currency (Rs 3185) per person. Got that at Indian Overseas Bank across from the US consulate.

Interview: We had taken our paperwork in a Black canvas zip folder. The folder was disallowed; contents had to be trasferred to a plastic bag. The actaul interview was very smooth. Only basic questions like which company, what position etc were asked. PCC issued by Indian Consulate in US was suffcient. Did not even ask for paystubs or bank statements. Our company had changed the lawyer 3 weeks before my interview. I had carried a new G-28 (Attorney represenation blue form); but it was not even looked at. Document verification by Indian officer took 15 min. Second interview in presence of an American officer took 3 min.

POE: No hassles. The fingerprint scan device could not pick up my finger prints; the officer gave up after 2-3 tries. This device is experimental, I guess. The officer said that the fingerprints taken on paper were important. The device was being used for something else. No questions asked; stamping done.

Good luck to rest of the CPers! Email me if you have any other questions.

Medical/Vaccination

Q1. Is it better to get all the medical check-up and vaccination done in US or its should be done in India only?

Q2. Does the medical checkup and vaccination have an expiry date (meaning that on the interview date, these documents can be only 6 months or so old)?

Thanks in advance.

You have to get the checkup done at one of the authorized hospitals in India so that they can give u the sealed medical reports which are required for the interview. You may be able to avoid getting injections/shots during this checkup if u can prove that u have already taken the necessary vaccines. We had taken a letter from our family physician detailing the vaccines that had been administered since childhood. This worked. So we were given only one shot (MMR) during the medical checkup at Lilavati. But I don't think it makes a big difference (unless u r scared of getting severals injections in one sitting!).

andyarch,
Do we have to submit PCC at the time of sending the I-824 receipt along with the Attorney certified I-140?.

Thanks.

My case did not involve I-824. I am not aware whether PCC has to be submitted along with I-824.

My lawyer did delay filing Packet 3 to St Louis till our PCCs were received from the Indian consulate in Houston. I do not know if she actually filed copies of the PCC with Packet 3. I think she was just over cautious (by having all documents ready before filing Packet 3).
