Successful CP Interview

Folks,

Like most of CP interviews mine also went pretty well and today I received the immigrant visa packets also. The details are as below:

EB Category: EB1
I-140 Approval: June 03
Interview Date: 12th Dec

Medical screening: I had to take 3 shots to complete the course and my wife due to pregnancy was exempted for both chest X-rays and immunization shots and our child was exempted also. It toook us about 2-3 hrs to complete the formalities. The medical results were couriered by the Lab straight to the embassy here.

The interview: The interview was at 9 AM -The lady who took all our originals/copies was a bit rude and she could've caused some issues if not for our sorries and thanks you's!
We were asked to submit the folowing in Original and 1 copy:

1) BC for all applicants
2) PCC's from all the places (countries where you lived)
3) Marriage Certificate
4) Un-signed DS-230 Part-2
5) Employment letter

The lady argued that I had to have my PCC from the place where my passport was issued and the one from CGI, Houston was not acceptable....but luckily I had my PCC from the place of issue also (though technically it had expired - 6 moths criteria). She accepted it by saying the PCC's are normally valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Otherwise, no isses.
We were asked to come at 2PM for the "Real" interview.

The interview with the American officer was quick- lasted just about 2-3 minutes. He just asked us to raise our hands, sign the DS-230 forms and the following questions were asked:

1) Who is the employer
2) How long have you been working with the current employer
3) How long have you been in the US and where
4) How many employees in my location
5) How long have you been married

He said everything was fine and we just had to make sure that we finish the rest of medical formalities back in the US.

The most surprising part was that I was not asked for I-134 and when I asked about it after completion of the interview I was told that I do not need that and employment letter is adequate!!

Well thats it....and it was complete.

My POE will be LA and I would like to find out the formalities involved.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank all the forum members who made things easier by responding with appropraite clarifications.

Thanks again,

RK

Congrats RK..
Wish you a Happy Post GC Life..

Was the lady who was rude, an indian?

Did you carry any indian PCC? Because you have mentioned that you had pcc from where yourpassport was issued.

I am sure RK would respond to your queries, but I think RK
attended the interview at Singapore.

hey rk:

Heartiest congratulations! And really nice of you to share your experience!

As far as POE don't worry about it...when you land @LA, stand in the GC holder line / Citizens line (if no GC holder line), submit your passport, I-94 (filled in the flight) and immigrant approval packet. You will be taken in for fingerprinting and then wished "Welcome to America". 2 weeks from then you will get Welcome letter followed by physical green card within next 4-6 weeks.

Don't be surprised to get multiple welcome letters!

Yes, my consular post was Singapore as Raju has mentioned but, my experience I guess should help Cpers nevertheless. And you're right the lady indeed was a local Indian! She in fact suggested that I go to the local Indian High Commission and get the PCC as my passport was issued from there! My worry was with my Wife's PCC as her passport was issued in India and a trouble there would mean travel to India for her PCC. But again this is consistant with the experience of so many others.

And Thanks Kd1403, but do we have to fill-in I-94's ???...I was under the impression that we just need to fill-in the customs declaration form ??

Thanks,

RK

I was also under the impression that we do not need to fill out i-94 but when i reached the gc line i was told to fill out one for myself and another for my wife. The immig officer took the completed i-94's but the bottom stub was not given to us. I am guessing this is a way for them to know that you have re-entered the country.

YEs apart from this you will need to fill out the customs declaration form one for the family!
