LIke the others before me, I had no problems with the CP interview. Everything went smoothly, I too got my visa packet in 30 min from the time of interview. My POE was New York. The wait there was very short-- 15 minutes. No surprises at either end.
My heartfelt thanks to all of you who helped through the process, especially Txcp and Zaye!
As for the details:
1. I got my medical done from Mideast in Karachi. This guy was really rude and acted like he was actually doing you a favor!! Additionally, you have to go elsewhere for the blood test and the X-rays. In hindsight, I would proobably go to Aga Khan and get everything done at the same place.
2. My PCC took a couple of days, I had to give a copy of the passport, two photographs, and an application letter stating why I wanted the clearance and the dates and address of where I had lived in Pakistan.
3. In Islamabad, I stayed at the Holiday Inn. They have a free shuttle that picks you up and drops you off at the airport. It's also near the convention center. The cab fare was Rs. 50 to the convention center and Rs. 100 back. Go figure.
4. Got to the convention center at 7:00 a.m. and there was a really long line. Got to the embassy around 8:30.
5. Had to sit around and wait at the embassy for my turn to come up, but once it did, I got my paperwork within 30 minutes.
6. The supporting documents I was asked for were the PCC, birth cirtificate, employment letter, and affidavit of support. I was surprised by the last two since mine was a NIW case, but since I had a letter of emplyment I gave it in. As for the Affidavit of support, I had a letter from INS with the last three years of tax returns. That was sufficient.
7. I should mention that after the lady asked me for the Affidavit of support and I gave it to her, and she went through the check list that she had, she realised that I did not have to have the support or the letter of emplyment and she crossed them off the cover of the file.
8. The interview itself was nothing and lasted a few minutes. I was asked what I did and where I worked.
9. At the POE, I had to wait less than 15 minutes for my turn to get fingerprinted and put my signature on the form. That was it.
Thanks again to all those who helped throughout the process!!
