Hi People

My wife recently (August 09, 2005) had her immigrant visa issued in Mumbai. :) .If there are any specific questions any would like to ask I would be more than happy to try and help. This information is not to be construed as legal advice.

Here is a brief sequence of events in chronological order.
Filed I-130 in Nebraska in 2002
Became a citizen in October 2004
Withdrew file in Nebraska and went to India, stayed 2 months and filed new petition in Delhi December 27.
Received DS 230 part 1 end of Janauary.
Received DS 230 part 2 and appointment letter in July for August 09, 2005.

Medical done at Hinduja hospital. Wait at the ground floor and obtain receipt. Receipt has time punched on it and applicants are called according to the time on the receipt. X-rays taken later and everyone is called back in the afternoon. Go to the floor indicated on the receipt and wait for medical check up with doctor. Medical usually completed by 3:30 pm.

We arrived 45 min prior to interview. No need to wait in line. Applicants are called 15 min (as indicated in letter) prior to interview. Do not taken anything not required in your interview. eg. CD's, lip stick, chap stick, water etc. This only delays you as you need to go back outside and wait in the the immgrant appl. line even though it is a short line. (There are 2 lines for Immigrant and non-immigrant.) This is not the same line that everyone goes to when they arrive. These lines are made 15 min prior to interview.

Once inside, applicants are asked what language they prefer and given a letter which states the format required for putting the papers together. Indian officer calls you and checks the documents and asks you a few questions. Later an American officer calls you takes the final interview and advises you if you have passed the interview or not. If you have then you are called back at 3:30 pm and the packet and passport with the visa are given to you. The officers are very nice. Do not be nervous ( I know, easier said than done.) Good luck.
