Well,
Finally got everything done.. successfully that is....

I'll try to fill in as much as possible.

Feb 16th : Lister.. very straight forward. went at 8:30 was out by 9:30 am
evening : went to Dr. Vijayalakshmi... got inj for MMR and small px.. wife got MMR... she said everything was all eight..

Feb 17: relax
Feb 18: Pondicherry, mahabalipuram .. etc

Feb 19th :Went in at 8:00 am.w as told to go inside the building.
was called at 8:30 by the document collector(dc)..desi dude...

Here's what transpired.
dc: Please gimme all documents sir...ur first , then ur wife next
me : gave PCC, passport, DS 230 1 & 2, medical rep
dc : plz sign ds 230 sir...gimme ur BC orig and cpy
me : here it is sir...
dc: gimme ur marriage cert, copy,
me : here sir..
dc: gimme ur w2 and 1040 sir for last 3 yrs and ur pay stubs..
me : he is w2 sir and pay statements sir
dc: gimme ur company employment letter sir
me : here sir..
dc: gimem ur work exp sir
me : that is same as cpny empl.. letter sir
dc: what abt the prev cpny u worked for
me : ( has not bothered to take it ) .. the cpny has been closed sir.. so dont have one
dc: how long did u work ther
me : abt 6 months sir
dc: then its ok.. I need w2 adn 1040 for last 3 yrs(repeatedly)
me :ahem.. er... what is 1040 sir...??
dc: u never filed taxes during ur stay in US ??
me : oops... here it is sir...
dc: gimme ur edu cert and copy .
me : (rumacing thro folder)
dc: plz be quick sir... we have a lot of ppl waiting, and u are the first one ...
me : sorry sir.. here it is ..
dc: plz ask ur wife to sign her ds230 and gimme her docs
me: (this time ready with everyhting) here is everything sir...
dc: (after checking for some timne) plz have a seat sir... we will call u )

sat back around 8:50 am

was called at counter 6 arnd 9:20 by and american dude or angry dude (ad)...:mad: u'll se why...
me: good morn sir
ad: g'morn...
dc: who is calling u to the us ?
me: xxxx company sir
ad:hat do u do ?
me : so and so/... this and that...
ad:how long did u work there?
me: abt 3 yrs sir
ad: have u been in h1 all along?
me : no sir.. I was a student and converted to H1 later..
ad: so u broke the non immigrant laws... u stayed back..
me: (quissinglly.. maybe he misunderstoiod, i was legally all right) no sir.. I started workjin on PT, then..
ad: (cutting me short).. so u broke the law... what did u say during the F-1 interveiw?
me: :confused:
ad: did u or did u not say u will come back after ur studies?
me: yes sir.. but that was ..( was going to say 6 yrs back... things changed and so on..)
ad: (cutting me again) so u lied during ht einterveiw.

my wife(mw) : abt 5 months sir..
ad: was it an arranged marriage ?
me: no sit.. it was a love marriage

me: I came to In during 2002 sir.. met here there.. kept correspondence ..
ad: where did u get married maam ?
mw: in India sir... Blore
ad: so u came ot Ind for marriage, but coudnt come back after ur studies...

ad: ur visa has been issued.. u will get it in 3-4 business days.. ua re free to leave consulate...

arent we supposed to get back the original W2s and tax returns ??

O man! This definitely was a good story line up! Man you are in the wrong field. Any interest in dialogue form of writing movie scripts my cousin brother who is a movie director may be interested - although he is back in india! Amazing job with the interview and the posting! Reading your posting I felt as if I was living that interview as I read it!

Normally they are not supposed to retain any originals other than Employment letter, I-134 (s), PCC's. Rest should be returned. But anyway if they have not returned it to you, you can come back to usa and request your employer to get your duplicates for w2 for your future reference.

Make sure when you carry your x-rays back to usa do not run them thru the scanning machines at the airports!

Prash....on this good note - you did not mention when and where is the party! I remember you committing to it last month on this portal in one of your postings! Do i have a good memory or what you must be thinking!

They haven't returned my medical reports (by doctor)
Do you think it will be in the courier package that i get today?

Normally the Xrays are returned immediately @ the time of the interview at least in mumbai. And then the rest of the medical report is in the sealed envelope that you get in the evening when you pick the passports in mumbai or i guess you get via courier @ home when you go thru chennai consulate!

My wife just called me and told that she has received the courier (packet from consulate)...

Did you happen to have a mini tape recorder during your interview???

I just completed reading the post and as kd said,it was like I was myself going thru the interview.Trust me,my knees are still shaking even after 5 minutes.

I didnt get my medical reports too... Hopefully it will be sent along with my passport. Is the medcal report and X-ray checked again at the POE ?? Will it be a problem if I dont get it back ?

Abt my W2s and 1040 dont I need to have the originals in case I get audited??? I can get copies of W2, but not sure of my 1040..

cpzinga, where did u receive the courier ? in Mds or somewhere else? Am in Cbe right now.. Hoping we will get the passports today...

Also was surprising that we came out so early... ours was the first immigrant case to be processed. went in at 8:00 am and came out by 9:30 am... Hope everyone following us had a better interaction with that guy than us....

got the courier pkt from bule dart arnd 11:00 am today.

Have a few questions.
The passport has the previous visa "cancelled without prejudice".
But there is no other visa stamp for the IV.
Is this stamped at the POE ??

Also got the W2s for 2001 aND 2000 along with teh passport, but NOT THE w2 FOR 2002.
They didnt return that... Should I inform them that they have to return it ??

The immigrant visa and alien registration form is stapled on the front
of a sealed pkt which is to be opened by teh immi officer at the POE.
I didnt get the medical reports back.. Is this contained in the pkt
or am I supposed to have got it loosely , like the W2s ??

The form has the Fathers First name and Mothers first name interchanged
with that of my Wife.. Sam eis the case with my Wife's packet... The
accompanying instructions said that corrections for these will NOT be
entertained by the consulate, as they are deemed not critical.. Will they
correct this at the POE ??

YES. IT WILL BE STAMPED (I 551) AT POE.

I ASSUME YOU HAVEN'T OPENED THE PACKET INSIDE! OR THE W2s WERE OUTSIDE (LOOSELY) WITH PASSPORTS? YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO OPEN THE INTERNAL PACKETS. HOWEVER, THEY HAVEN'T RETURNED MY W2s TOO.

YES. FROM PREVIOUS POSTS, MANY PEOPLE HAVE GOT IT CORRECTED THEM AT POE.

I basically concur with cpzinga.

At the POE point out the mistakes to the Officer and what he
would do is correct them on the paper.

He/she would also attach a form on which a 'box for corrections' is
flagged to let the office processing know that there are some
corrections. This is what he did for me.
