My in-laws were able to procure their B2 visa successfully during their interview at Chennai successfully. They're in their low 70's, I had fixed their interview in July for October. I had requested a Malayalam translator. They had waited for about 4 hrs but due to unavailability of a Malayalam translator, my father-in-law had stated that he's fluent in English. The consular acknowledged and asked the following questions:
1. What's the turnover of your business?
2. Does your daughter work?
3. How long would you like to visit the US?

He approved and asked them when are they planning to visit here. Since their response was sometime in December, he asked them to take warm clothes. They were apparently very helpful to the elderly.

They received their visas by courier yesterday.

All's well that ends well. Good luck to you all.

Translator

Hey Legolas,

Thanks for publishing the good news!

I'm in the same situation. My mom is attending the interview on Feb28th. We have requested for a Malayalam translator through the chennai consulate web site.

Had you requested for a translator in advance? Just wanted to make sure that the wait time of 4 hours was due to not reserving the translator in advance.

Many thanks,
Josh

Legolas,

Can you share with us that Sponser doc (I-130 ++) are sent to directly consulate from here? or docs are sent to parents to present during interview.

as many thread shared that the office at interview even don't take a look on doc parents are carrying and I do have concern,

I have made two set of doc one for consulate and one for parents copy, and both were sent to parents to carry doc, and give to consular immidiately in interview.

The authorized courier service from embassy accept only Passport+visa Appl+one doc. not more than one.

my parents are waiting for interview and they are not in india.

Thanks
