Sorry folks !
Sorry, I got really busy as I had to rejoin my job the very next morning after landing in the US (our flight got delayed because of fog and we came back one day late). Also jet lag took its toll.
The reason why it took me 10 years to get GC is because I was part of the unlucky 1998 Residency completion batch when they suddenly cancelled the NIW process for doctors and then took another 1 & 1/2 to 2 years to come up with a new NIW process. In the meantime, I filed for 485 through LC but after 1&1/2 years it was denied becos I'd applied before finishing 3 years of J1 waiver and the #@%&*^ INS asked me to reapply for 485.
By this time my wife and I had already gone through the hell of 3&1/2 years of separation (she was doing a 4-year Residency in Illinois with our 5-year old son while I was near Seattle) and we said "To Hell With GC" and I moved to Illinois and waited till my wife finished then we both looked for stable non-HPSA jobs in the same town (we've wowed never to separate again even for 1 day ever again in life). After a false start for me at another exploitative job (where I started and later abandoned my second GC process),we finally got lucky and both of us got jobs of our choice on H1 visa and we started our 3rd attempt at GC which finally worked out.
Anyway, lately I have met atleast another 5 doctors working with me who have all been in this country longer than me and are still floundering around in the GC process. So I don't feel so bad any more. I'm trying to convince all of them to go for AC-140 and the first one of them to listen to me is leaving this morning to go to New Delhi for his interview on 1/27/05.
Sorry for the boring details. I'll certainly post a new entry in the Physicians forum so that ALL docs get the message : DO CP WHILE DOING YOUR 3-YR.WAIVER AND SAY "F--- YOU" TO THE 5-YEAR NIW waiver process.
