Here is my interview experience in Boston.

I had a prior arrest on domestic violence, but the case was dismissed. I also had 4 traffic tickets. So I hired an attorney and went with her. Interview was scheduled at 1:30pm, I was there at 1pm. It was packed, they called me at 1:35pm for civic test. I answered first 6 questions correctly, so officer did not ask me more questions. Gave me a green color card and asked me to go to another room. This is a standard procedure in Boston now, first one officer do civic test and then another officer go through the papers.

Second officer called me around 3pm. My attorney gave bunch of additional documents such as, driving record, traffic tickets disposition etc. Officer asked me bunch of yes/no questions from N-400, went through the traffic ticket papers, asked me about the arrest. I said it was a stupid mistake, we only had arguments and the case was dismissed. He asked me if I hit her, I said no.

He asked about my wife's job. He then asked me to sign last page of N-400. Took the whole file to his supervisor for approval and came back with flashy yellow oath letter. My oath is scheduled on July 30.

I'm happy that it's almost over. I just wished oath was earlier than July 30th. I wanted to visit Europe in June, but I guess it's not gonna happen.

Thank you all
fizk.

Why do they need to ask you about your wife's job? Is it routine for them
to ask N-400 applicants about what their spouses do?

Is it the normal wait time to be scheduled for oath 2 months after interview
in Boston?

thanks! :)

He asked about my wife's job. .................

My oath is scheduled on July 30.

He asked in detail about my wife's job, I was surprised because my green card was employment based. It doesn't make any sense to me. May be he was trying to make sure we are together.

I guess Boston office is approving too many applicants, 2 months for oath is long time. It's not normal though.

Congratulations!!..what year was the domestic violence charge? Also, you can travel to Europe before oath with no worries as long as you have valid foreign passport and green card.

Congratulations!!

fizk,

I am sure you would be a happy US Citizen today as you should have taken the oath by now. Congratulations!!

Just wanted to ask, if the IO asked any questions about your domestic violence case? If so, could you please share your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Did Attorney provide any help at the interview?

fizk,

Also, please let us know what role did your attorney play during the Citizenship interview. Did your attorney provide any material help during the interview or you took the attorney just for "peace-of-mind".

Thanks.
