I had my stamping at at Ottawa succesfully.
People who are planning to go to stamping in Ottawa, I suggest them to carry enuff warm clothing. They made me and many other people to stand in the cold at -25 degrees. My appointment was at 10 am and I reached the embassy at 9.20 am and there were already few bunch of people waiting for their turn. There is no enuff room inside the consulate so they make u stand outside for some time.
Other than standing in the cold rest was a cake walk.
I rented a car at enterprise for one day which costs less than a cab (one way cab is 26 CAD dollars , rental car for one day costed me 29 bucks), I suggest to book a hotel in downtown from Hotwire.com which gives good deals for hotels in downtown. I stayed in Hotel Les Suites which is 5 min walk from Consulate. There are few Indian restaurants in and ard downtown, if you have rental car u can roam ard. Its all in 5min driving distance from hotel and consulate.
Coming to my intvw at embassy,
By the time i was inside the consulate it was 10.30 tho my appointment was at 10 am.
After submitting the docs and applcn fee of 100 dollars , my name was called after waiting for 25 mins.
Me: Good Morning! How are you doing today?
LadyOff: Morning, I am good , urself?
Me: Good
LO: Do you have employment letter?
Me: Gave it
LO: Do you have all the documents filed by your employer?
Me: Gave I129 PETITION, Gave LCA
LO: What was your status before H1
Me: F1
Me: Gave the I-20's
LO: Do you have the diploma certificate?
Me: I was giving the diploma
LO: Its so cute , I dont wanna touch it and spoil it. Just show it from there.
Me: Showed.
LO: Were you on OPT?
ME: Yes, here is my OPT card.
LO: Here is the slip, we also charge $50 as a reciprocity fee, pls pay at the counter and get the recept?
Me: Sure will do.
Me: Paid the fee and came back and gave the reciept.
LO: Good, you can collect your visa at 3pm at the gate.
Me: Sure. Thanks alot.
I have not seen any body getting rejected, except for one guy who had Business to H1 transfer, he was almost got thru, he was given pink slip also , but again he was called to counter and was asked to go to India his home country for stamping.
For others I heard interviewrs asking them abt their status before and info abt their job and employer. Thats all. I felt if you have proper documentation , it wud be a piece of cake.
Thats all.
Good luck,
IndyAJ
