Submitting new evidence after interview

Hello

Considering situation in my country I believe more instances of political persecution will occur after I am interviewed

Do you think they accept new evidences after interview is done? For example few days after interview?

I don't think so unless they somehow ask you for second interview or even third interview like what happened to sadsoul.

beside, if I were you,
I would NOT submit those new evidences after interview is done (again unless they call you for second/third interview),
because
just in case they refer you to immigration court,
then you can use that new evidence to further support your case in the immigration court !
(save it as your secret weapon).

By the way how are you getting prepared for your interview? Is everything ok? Hope you will share you interview experience with us after you finish it. We all need as much information as possible. Wish you get approved soon.

Thanks, Yes I will share my experience, I know how people are waiting to hear new experiences my interview is very soon on 11th and I will share when I am back.

I am preparing my self on my own and with lawyer. Lawyer pretends if he is asylum officer and questions me. Well I can say that I know all dates and places and names in my affidavit or application by heart. Also I think there is no issue at all to persuade officer that what I am describing really happened to me, because my beating was televised and I submitted photos and videos of my beatings, also my name is listed at least in 20 sources including New York Times, BBC news Archive, Also I am mentioned in US state department human rights report. I think there is no issue for officer to be sure in my identity. The problem is as officers are deciding using discretion it makes me worried, may be officer didn't like me? May be officer didn't learn my case in detail? may be officer is just hater and doesn't want 3 new foreign residents in United States. You know I was told that even in this system such issues might happen because officers are given freedom to decide what they want. This is small risk but anyway I admit existence of this risk and you never know. Also physically I look as strong guy like boxer who knows that officer thinks why this guy is afraid of persecution? I don't know there are many issues including personal. May be it makes me crazy as my interview date approaches but I am still nervous. However I think there are positive points in my history. I have USA born family member, So asylum officer understands that if I want to live here my daughter will sponsor when she is 18, also my son is already enrolled at School and he is doing well, I have master's degree and high education and big experience in many fields including American project which was done in my country. So it could play positive role in decision making if officer is neutral and applies discretion in his work.

I don't know let's see. Sometimes I think would it be better to apply for asylum at the airport 1 year ago? Because I had evidences anyway. My lawyer only got affidavits of political experts and prepared my affidavit and advised me and it took over 1 year.

According to the information which you wrote I think if you are not approved, it means that nobody else can be approved. And don't think about bad things and try not to get nervous. People even with worse evidences then you have were approved. So I think you will definitely be approved. so don't worry about it. Just try to explain everything which happened to you and show all the evidences you have. Try to be as natural as possible. I wish you all the best!!:))) Waiting for the good news from your side:))

On top of that my wife is also journalist and may face political persecution in future if returned, she has not such big risk or past persecution like I have but she definitely has risks, I included her worries in my affidavit briefly. Actually independent affidavit could be made from her story, but anyway I wanted it to be submitted as soon as possible, when my wife arrived I was already ready to submit.

I am sure you'd be approved for asylum. The evidence you have makes a very strong case! Like Anthony2013 said, just explain what happened and show the evidence you have. Good luck and please update us all! Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about personal feeling of your officer. That is why they have a supervisor to sign under the decision. In a wors case if officer didn't like you, and he will nor approve ( which I think is very small chance) there is still supervisor who will review the case and sign under decision. In this time he will just see all your story with evidence, without personal opinion. Did you watch "well founded fear"? If not, I recommend you to watch before your interview. Good luck.

I watched the movie on the recommendation someone made here. Made me very nervous for some reason but I thought it was very enlightening. I wish a more recent version was made though since there were some changes since then in the process, and maybe the issues AOs see commonly.

I agree it's a bit old movie, but I found many useful information for myself such as: not only officer is making decision, how people answer questions, how officers work, that each one has different way to question and how they see cases and many other. And also it gives you a bit clue how the interview will go more or less. Some officers from that movie are still working.

I've watched Well Founded Fear just now. I liked the movie even though it is made in 2000 and apparently is different from what real system is now.

But I liked when asylum officer says that I like cases with hundreds of pages of documentation. This is what I provided I provided during application over 5 inches of thick folder with documents. Evidences, affidavits, country reports. I liked that asylum officer

I also noticed as if female asylum officers were more inclined to share applicants feelings

After this movie I realized how hard their job is, I mean to make a right decision! People lives depend on their decision and it's a lot of pressure for them. I also have big case and I wish my officer will take time and read at least half of it:))
