A new post, following one below. what if I submit everything for GC, except medical exam papers? Is that a bad idea? Would they deny immediately, or request more information?

Hi there,

I did just that and my case wasn't rejected or denied. they might send me an RFE though for my Med Exam and might ask me to bring it along to my interview. I haven't done my Med exam yet coz I'm still waiting for my blood works which will be available in a week or two from now.

My friend did the same thing too and now she's a green card holder.

But I am not advising you to do so, I am just sharing my experience. :)

... Interesting... So, there there is no rule or policy? It's up to whoever is looking at your application? Hmm...

Usually if you don't send the medical up front with the I-485, they send an RFE some weeks or months later to request the medical exam, or you can proactively send it in after filing the I-485 and before they send the RFE. But if you do that, you're taking a risk, because they have the authority to deny it immediately due to lack of the medical.

However, if denied for that reason, and you are in the US married to a US citizen, the denial would not be the end of the world, as you would immediately be able to file another I-485 along with the completed medical exam.

Ok, it sounds like there is s chance to get a denial letter.
(Yes, I am married to a US citizen).
Thanks,

No, you won't get denied. you'll just get an RFE for that which will make your case put on hold until you send them your sealed med exam from an accredited uscis surgeon.

But then again, its always best to play safe and send everything all at once :)

yes, of course which would likely to cost about $150-200 and not to mention some vaccinations prior to your med exam. see uscis.gov for accredited surgeons.

Thank you.
Seems to be none of the civil surgeons are taking any insurance (at least those I have called).
Out of the medical topic, I noticed you are also in Atlanta, GA. Which office did you submit all the applications to? I'm also going to be submittng my GC Application through marriage.

Thanks again.

Civil surgeon I went to took my insurance without a problem. So my exam ended up being $35 for everything, pretax - I used spending account from my employer.

Yeah, I paid cash on my med exam but the vaccination and blood works, my insurance took care of it.

I sent it to USCIS P.O. Box 805887 Chicago,IL 60680-4120.

I have done that for my wife's GC and we got an RFE for Medical and replied to that and was approved !!

If you are between the age of 16 and 26, make sure you also get your gardisal shot (for cervical cancer). It is mandatory now by the government. About 50% of the USCIS approved clinics did not carry this, nor did they know that it was manditory. The cheapest I found this shot was for $160. Make sure you go to a clinic that KNOWS about all the shots you need for your gender and age.

And, I would say why not do your medical before you submit the papers? Just send it all together to increase your chances of approval. My FULL proccess of going to my medical appnt. and getting all test results and shots.. was 5 days! I was in on a Thursday (last week) and got everything yesterday.. Monday. The only shot I needed was gardisal, so my total was $310. ($150 for physical and $160 for gardisal) But eveything is prepared by the surgeon and ready to get sent to Immigrations.

Also, my insurance here in Florida did not cover immigration, I guess it depends where you live.
