Submitted the DV Forms as Single, now thinking of getting married

I have submitted the documents to Kentucky and they are processing my application. I filed my application as single and thinking of getting married on November or December.

I contacted Kentucky DV Lottery and they mentioned I can amend my application after getting married. Can someone tell me what documents I have to provide as the proof of my marriage to Kentucky DV Lottery department and during US Consulate Interview?

I am only thinking of having marriage registration on November/December 2013 and actual wedding celebration according to our customs on June 2014.

Do you see any issues with my approach? Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Filing as single with only a court document to show as proof of marriage may make it hard to convince them it's a genuine marriage and not a green card one. For KCC you just need an updated DS230 for yourself and your spouse and a copy of the marriage certificate. For the consular interview you need proof that you've been in a relationship for a while - photos, letters, emails etc. if you don't have photos of a wedding celebration by the time of your interview despite already being married it will be that much harder to convince the CO.

What if I have the Wedding and Registration on June 2014 and go for interview on August 2014 (with my case number, August 2014 seem to be the date based on last year selection criteria)?

This way I would have the wedding pictures. But how would I go about updating/amending my documents and spouse documents with KCC.

Thanks.

Send an amended DS230 for yourself (adding your wife as derivative), one for her and a copy of the marriage certificate to KCC and obviously take all these to the interview as well.

I think the best thing to do would be to legally get married in Nov/Dec as you planned or as soon as possible. Then go ahead and send a copy of the marriage certificate and the updated DS-230s to KCC.

Enjoy you wedding in June and take lots of pictures; crowded pictures. Take the pictures to your interview in Aug or whenever.

With the early notification to KCC, the consulate will have your updated forms come the interview time, and you don't need to volunteer the information that the pictures are from a later date.

Problem solved! :)

For example, suppose I get married, but my spouse is from different country. My interview location is Montreal, Canada and I am currently resides in US. And if I get married and my spouse is from UK and currently resides in UK. How does the interview process work? She goes to UK for interview and I go to Montreal, Canada for interview?

Please help. Thanks.

Your new wife should ideally attend the interview with you wherever that is. There is a process where the interviews can take place apart BUT in your case you are already going to have to show the relationship is genuine so being together at your interview would be more normal and raise less questions (in my opinion).

Absolutely right, as usual, Simon. :o

no_trying, your best cours of action would be for you to attend the interview together with your wife. This is because you're getting married AFTER your DV selection. Interviewing from different locations would make them think it's a GC marriage, don't give the COs more cause to doubt your marriage and reject your petition entirely.

Another scenario is if my fiancée is in Canada with the PR but has a passport of different nationality other than Canada, does she have to go back to her home country for interview or the interview be arranged in Canada also?

No, it doesn't matter which passport she holds. She can attend the interview with you in Canada as long as she has legal status/authorized stay in Canada
