I had lost all interest in cricket after the Chetan Sharma/Javed Miandad last ball 6 episode and then the match fixing scandal.
I regained most of it back this saturday..
Yes, Sachin was dropped on 32 and then again on 88, but what an innings it was. None of the strokes were heaves or of brute force. It was poetry in cricket.
Reminded me of the match in Australia during the World Championship of Cricket (the Audi tournament) when Vengsarkar and Kapil were at the NZ like hammer and tongs and one of the NZ players(Cairns Sr?) took out a white handkerchief and starting waving it around.
After 15 overs, I heard a couple of people in the front row in the theater talk about "Paisa Vasool"(Money's worth) even if India lost the match.
It was a great innings, but with the Indians reputation of making a match out of even a winning position, one could never be sure of the result till India made 250. Any one who says that they were certain of India's victory before that should never set foot it Las Vegas.
It took a great ball from Shoaib to get him out.
And guys, it was a good match.. no need to rub it in that hard to
our northern neighbours.. the shoe was on the other foot not so long ago.
People had taken to the streets in celebration in Bangalore on M.G.Road at 12:30AM to celebrate.
It was Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttt.
