Studying with H1b

Hi...
I'm currently working with a H1b and am happy with where I work "on-site". Unfortunately, it's a different story with the consulting firm that is sponsoring my h1b. I had to pay my own visa processing fees, find my own job, and yet give them 30% commision for doing nothing. Ofcourse, they don't offer any insurance or benefits package... and on top of that, they're never available when I need to speak... anyway, to make the long story short... they suck and I want out.

My question is, can I quit work now and tell the consulting company that I got "fired" and assure them I'm looking for new job... BUT prepare for MBA instead (And once I get accepted to MBA change my visa to F1)?

If you are in H1B, you must work and get your pay check every month.
If you do not get your pay check , you loose your H1 status, per proposed new law it is illegal and you are eligible for one year jail term for over stay.

Get F1 and quit the company.
