Study outside US while on GC

This query is about children studying outside US.

Is the children need to take i131 permit and travel every year? Or can we seek longer term permit (say 2 to 4 years) by submitting the course calender from foreign university??

A re-entry permit can only have a max validity of 2 years.

The re-entry permit would have to be applied for twice for two years each. One must be in the US to apply for it.
