Even if you had an SSN, this would not entitled you to work. You must have a work authorization. Just like you mother has a work authorization.

It is always difficult for the family of a TN.

Work Permit

Hi,

SSN is not to work in US, You must have work authorization letter to work. You can refer to government site for your work permit.
