Stuck because of Oath ceremony

Hi,

I applied for citizenship in september 2003 and was interviewed in July 2004. I was told that I would receive an invitation for the oath ceremony in 15 days but have never received since. I have been to the district Immigration office in Atlanta ( place where I applied) and have repeatedly been told that only the oath ceremony is pending.

Has anyone faced a similar situation before? If yes, can you share your experience please.

Thanks and Regards,

Bhalla,

Do you have a Muslim name, which can be spelled in many different ways and which is a very common name?

If so, name check may be your problem.

yalag,
I don't think the muslim name is the problem, my friend's name is Mahmoud, very popular arabic and muslim name and never had any trouble with the name check! After the interview, he got his oath letter in 10 days! The government can't treat applicants differently just because of their name, they deal with facts, and that's why they perform and FBI and name check!
Keep in mind that each single case is unique as applicants situations and circumstances could be different or unique, also the district office and the employees play a significant role in the speed of the processing of the application, and i think most of us have figured that out already!
Good luck and hope that helps

I may have inadvertly suggested that the US is conducting racial profiling.

I did not mean to do so.

In other threads, there was mentioning hat most name check problems with people whjo have common names which can be written in many different forms and that these names are also shared with terrorists. I.e. if someone has a name similar to a name of someone on the terrorist watch list, then the FBI employs extra scrutiny to assure there is no connection.

Did not mean any offense,

Yalag
