Strange: New LUD in our I-485 applications approved 5+ years ago

I wonder if anybody have experienced a similar situation. I and my wife applied for naturalization in August (NOA date 08/20/2009.) We submitted our fingerprints on 09/11. There have been no updates since then. The message still says that on 09/03 RFEs (read FP notes) were sent.
However, our I-485 petitions approved in September 2004 got the new LUD yesterday. Now, the LUD for them says 10/03/2009.

If you have seen something like this, please share. Thanks!

Probably they still doing background checks, I just checked cases around mine( Aug 17-Aug 22) half of them still pending and has status - Initial review. Just check cases with your Service Center lets say your recipet #
ABC*0000123 check cases with receipt n#'s ABC*0000110 - ABC*0000140. If few cases still pending, don't worry
 
Same here.... mine is stranger

My LUD was in Oct 2008.... never paid attention till now. Wonder why? Anything to be worried about?


I also got a Yellow Letter after FP, which says, I need to bring with me my driver's license to the interview, but no IL yet

Hi,

My FBI name check was cleared on September 16th. The fingerprints were cleared by the FBI even earlier- on the very same day when we submitted them (September 11). My question was if anybody else have seen the LUD on his/her I-485 updated recently. My guess is that when the NBC people prepare the A files for sending them to the DO they look at I-485.

But I had not applied in last Oct. infact, I only applied in Sept.

Dont know why they touched my approved case last Oct.
 
Another forum member (spiderman03) on 10/01/2009 posted the following:

"Also noticed a strange thing when I logged into my account at www.uscis.gov. I have my I-140, I-485 & N-400 case numbers in the portfolio. The day (09/28/09) before they mailed the yellow check list for the N-400 interview, there was an update on I-485 on 09/27/09. I got curious and clicked the I-485 case but it is the same old message of 2004 when my physical green card was mailed. I reported this matter few days back under Chicago timeline. It happened for me too. Got GC approved in Oct' 2004, then I-485 updated on Apr' 05 when the physical card was mailed to me. No update on I-485 since then. Now I filed N-400 on 07/28/09, then N-400 updated on 08/13/2009 resulting in FP notice, finished FP on 08/25/2009, then on 09/27/2008 my I-485 has a new status update instead of N-400 and within 4 days received the yellow check list letter for N-400. It was strange though.
Then someone in the Chicago timeline suggested that the NBC might have ordered retreiving of the entire A# file from it's storage facility for transfer to DO since they finished their part of processing, ending with FP feedback from FBI. It could have possibly updated the I-485 file, since that's where our immigration journey ended last time. Not sure if it is correct but made sense to me under the circumstances. It will help if few people who got IL already would check their I-485 updated dates and post their timeslines (including I-485 LUD) once again. That way we can predict something.

Didn't notice anyone raising the issue earlier. I noticed it by accident, that too because I had the I-140 & I-485 cases in my account portfolio ever since the online account system was started. As I said earlier, I really hope someone who got IL already post his/her timeline again with I-485 LUD also.

But that doesn't help the issue debated here i.e why I-485 cases are getting updated instead of N-400.

Like in your case, the messages for my I-485 and my wife's I-485 still says
that on certain dates in 2004/2005 our green cards were sent to our address.
Up untill yesterday, the LUDs for our I-485 refglected those dates in 2004/2005.

P.S. By the way, what was your Yellow Letter for? I have yet to receive a YL and/or IL.

My Yellow letter just mentioned the documents that I need to bring for the interview, like state DL, passport and also certified court dispositions since I mentioned the traffic tickets in the application.

Could you please post your DO & complete timeline.

How did you find out your FBI name check cleared? Is there a email address/phone number you used? I know the number for the FBI finger print check but this is the first I have seen there is a way to check the name check clearance. Please let us know how. Thanks

DO: Sacramento (myself and spouse)

N-400 sent: 08/17/2009
Package delivered: 08/20/2009
Receipt Note Date: 08/25/2009
FPs email (false RFE): 09/03/2009
FP notes received: 09/11/2009
FP submitted: 09/17/2009
FP original date: 09/17/2009 (not needed)

LUD for N-400s: still 09/03/2009
LUD for I-485: 10/03/2009

My wife got one speeding ticket 5 years ago with the fine about $150. Since she disclosed it, we expect the YL for her. I have no tickets. However, I have made 15 short business trips (research conferences) overseas. Again, these trips should not be a problem but the USCIS may wish to see my expired passports. Hence, a possibility of the YL for me as well.

I will keep you updated.

There was an email address dedicated to the status of the FBI name check five-seven years ago. However, the FBI discontinued the service rather quickly after the email address got swamped by thousands of anxious immigrants stuck in the name check who would send an email every day or every week checking their status.

The FBI name check and FPs are two different things. There is still the email dedicated to the status of the FPs.

If you are *very* lucky, the second level IO might tell you if you name check is cleared. However, the chances are very small, as far as I understand. I just got lucky. My wife did not even reach the second level IO. Several peopel who I know on this forum also were not able to get this info from the IO.

Hi, My sister's 485- LUD changed just one day after she applied N-400 - tell me about it :)

mine change when I updated AR-11 last year and nothing to do with N-400 at that time
