Strange difference between online status and phone system status

My 485 online status says an RFE has been issued on 11/26/2007, blah blah blah. However, when I made the phone call, the automated phone status says: We mailed you a notice for further evidence on I-797, please follow the instruction on the I-797...

It is strange... Do they now issue RFE using I-797? Or this is a different RFE notice? Could it be a NOID?

Thanks a lot!

My 2 cents:

I-797 is the paper on which they type the RFE and send. Any type of USCIS notice is printed on I-797.
They literally mean "We mailed you a notice for further evidence on I-797" notice form.

Here are the detailed messages:

Online:

On November 26, 2007, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence and/or information in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence and/or information requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the information and/or evidence requested, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something further from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.

Over the phone (auto message):

On November 26, 2007, we mailed a notice on form I-797 requesting additional evidence and/or information in this case. Please follow the instructions on the form I-797 to submit the evidence and/or information requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the information and/or evidence requested, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something further from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.

Anyone has any idea?

Yes, they're both the same message. They're sending an RFE notice. I-797 is just the name of the notice paper which should tell you details of the RFE. Your lawyer should get the RFE notice if you have one.

really?!

I received RFE before on other cases, it looks just like a regular letter, not forms...

forms, letter, notice...same thing... any correspondence with USCIS are written on I-797 (Notice of Action) form/letter ...receipt notices, fingerprint notices, approvals, RFEs..all written on I-797.
