I have been a silent observer of this forum for quite couple of months but finally I decided to share my ride with this forum.

First of all, I must say this forum provides wonderful place to learn lot about the immigration details and issues.

So before I tell you my story, here is the brief overview of my filling dates and also I am from SR country:

RD October 2001
ND October 2001
FP March 2002
RFE December 2002 (employment and BC)
RFE Replied February 2003

So here is my story:

About almost ten days ago, I have received a notice from BCIS that "in order to speed up the process, your application has been transferred to National Record Center in Missouri". I contacted Nebraska on the next day and they said it was an error and will get the application back from Missouri. At the same time, my lawyer contacted them and she had been told that it was not an error and Missouri will do a quality review on the application and after the review the application will be sent back to Nebraska for final processing. Then I learnt from this forum that other had the same problem and I contact National customer service no. and they said it was an error and the file is still with Nebraska. Then I contacted Nebraska again and they said they have received the file today but the ticket is yet to be assigned to this case.

I don't know what's going on. My lawyer said to wait for one more month to see what direction Nebraska is proceeding. I may contact Nebraska to see what they say at this time as my online status still shows the case is transferred to other BCIS office. Please suggest what to do from this point other than to wait.

I would wait for two more weeks and ask them again. Don't stop asking them. But not very frequently. If you don't ask then after a very long wait you may end up with surprises. Ask them on a regular basis of once in three weeks.

Yet another example of the bungling ways of NSC.

If I were you, I would try to find if I can get the sympathetic ears of the staff of one of your state's senators. The story will hopefully raise some eyebrows and perhaps even lead to an inquiry. At the least this will ensure that your file will stay within the sights of an adjudicator and not be forwarded to the Nothern Mariana Islands the next time around (or shredded, for that matter!).

Good luck.

Linuxrox,

I do not mean to scare anyone, but the facts here seem to justify intervention by a higher authority. Not only did our friends at NSC create a mess, but they also seem to have failed to respond to whatshappening's most basic entreaties (It had to be really bad for someone to coin a name like that!).

By the way, there was a widely reported situation a few months back; At the LA INS office some staffers apparently decided that shredding the applications was the best way to eliminate backlogs. I am not making this up.. While this may not have yet become a best practice in the eyes of the INS brass, there is no harm in being vigilant about unconventional approaches like these.:p :p

Looks wierd. I got the same notice back in April and called Nebraska. They said it was mistake and they are going to request the file back. How come they are still making the same mistake in May? arn't there someone in BCIS observe all mistakes made and taking actions to prevent it from happening again?

I guess the question should be: "What is the fundamental issue in NSC that has caused these mistakes?" - Lack of training, or a bunch of drunk people handling your cases?

Mistake

I also received a notice saying my case has been transferred to The National Records Center (at Lee's Summit, MO) on april 18, 2003. After that I checked the AVM at MO and said case not found then I called Nebraska center talk to the officer and she said it was a mistake and she will request my file back and route it to appropriate center this was a month ago. I keep calling and checking if my file is back to Nebraska to my surprise the IIO raise his voice told me to wait for another two month and call. Here I go again in the pool of confusion after three years wait. Whatishappning when do you call and learn your file is back to Nebraska?

National customer service told me it was never sent out to Missouri but it contradicted to what NSC said to me and my lawyer. According to NSC, they have received my file within a week.

NSC never mentioned about 2 or 3 months time frame. When we (me and my laywer) spoke to NSC, they always mentioned about 1-2 week of getting the file either processed at Missouri or getting it back to NSC.

I suggest it's useless to call NSC if your case status still shows it is transfered to other BCIS center.
