Hello,
This is the first time that me and my wife are posting our experience with the USCIS.
Our wonderful journey with the USCIS started back in Dec 19th of 2002 when we filed for an adjustment of status(I-485) based on marriage to a US citizen which is my wife and an I 765 for a work authorization card at the Philadelphia District Office.
To do everything right, I went to Philadelphia District Office and I registered my self for what they called the special registration!

After 2 months, I received a fingerprints notice and an appointment to get my work authorization card. I felt that we were so lucky because I was able to do the fingerprints part and I got my work authorization the same day.
Months went by and no interview notice yet! Dec of 2003 was the month when we finally got the magic notice. Our date of interview was Jan 5th of 2004. Every thing went the way it supposed to be and the whole process took about 10 mins! The officer that interviewed us said that everything was fine and we are OK but he won't stamp my passport instead, he took my I 94 and he told us to go home and wait for an approval letter or the green card, and he added that it won't take more then 6 weeks!!
After the 6 weeks, I called the USCIS and no hope we wrote to our congressmen, we even wrote to the president of the U. S and nothing happened. I went down to Philadelphia and all what they told me was oh you have to wait!
In Sep of 2004 I received another fingerprints notice and I got them done since my first ones got expired!!
Jan of 2005, I went to Philadelphia again and I have been told that my case is at Nebraska and they will work on it soon. Now Nebraska is passed our filing date and we are still waiting!
As we read over everyone comments we realized we are not alone. We would like to hear from someone who is going or went through what we are going through.

Thank you and God bless you all.

It seems to me definitely wrong something. If every thing is write they stamp your passport the same day and in case they need some more time they take maximum 6-8 weeks to send you approval letter in the mail. This is first time I heard that they sent the case back from local office to service center. You must contact your congressman to help you out.I filed in sep 2002 and got interveiw in Dec 2003 in Philly. They approved the case and stamped my passport same day.
Good Luck
