steps to take while in name check

Hello,

I am waiting for my GC for 7 months now. I filed 485 in march first week 2006 and had interview on 29 august 2006. answer during interview was name check pending. waiting for 7 months. no reply from USCIS.
what do i do?

how should i build my case?
please guide me through.

How about doing little search/research by yourself??
 
i may not be clear enough

from reading some posts here, i wonder if
i should make infopass first to ask USCIS what is going on.
then, contact congressman if they can do something
and then if nothing works, then what should i do?
should i just wait?
i want someone share their experience.
