Steps after CP? Need guidance

Hi All,

We had filed for GC through CP in Aug 2005 and returned to India in Feb 2006. I have been working in India for a different company since 2006. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an appointment letter for my CP interview last month. I completed the interview on Aug 6th and is now pending for my PCC.

All this happened so fast that we had not planned for this. Now if I were to get an Immigrant Visa, what should I do? I have 6 months to use the visa or it will expire. Leaving India within 6 months is a challenge with 2 school going kids. So, what are my options? Can I visit US temporarily and apply for Reentry permit and come back? Does it constitute abandoning of "Intention of staying in US"?

Has anyone been in similar situation before?

Thanks
Ravi

We finally got our passports back with Immigrant Visa stamped on both our passports. So, we are finally relieved that the entire process is now over. I feel that our case was quite rare as we are living and working in India and yet managed to get a immigrant visa. I wish good luck to all those who are waiting and hope for the best.

Ciao

Glad to hear from you Ravi...Can you share your interview experience with us?
what all documents you had taken etc? I guess you were in EB2 category...I guess you had your interview at Chennai consulate...

I think you all can come and make an entry and then leave...May be you can stay and get a permanent job and then bring your family back...
Also i think it would be advisable to work for your sponsoring employer for first 6 months...
If you don't feel like answering in the forum, please email me at kvp_rsp@yahoo.com..

Hi Venky

Sorry for the late response as I was held up with family health issues here. For the CP interview, I only had to get employment letter from my company. Our lawyer was thorough in the paperwork and all documents were already submitted to NVC. The interview itself was quite a breeze and the questions were just casual.

Why would you advise that I stay with my sponsor for the first 6 months? Is it a requirement that I need to stay with them?

Ravi
