Staying out of US for more than 180 days before citizenship

We've got GC 3 years ago. After GC, my wife have visited India 2 times, for 4 months & 2 months repectively.

Now, my wife needs to visit India for about 8-10 months. In order to get US citizenship, one needs to stay out of US for less than 180 days at a time. However while reading the instructions on the N-400 form, I read that if you maintain a US residence (house) while out of US for more than 180 days, you are still eligible to get the citizenship. We own a home and my wife is a co-owner. Do you think she is eligible?

Did anyone do some research on this issue? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Maintaining ties is important. Co-owning a home is one part of a set of proofs but is not enough by itself. Is it possible for her to come back for a few weeks before the 180 day period?
