Stay limit on L1 Visa: URGENT

Hi

I have an L1 visa stamped till Jul, 2006, however my I94 is valid till 2008. My work with my current L1 employer ends sometime in July, 2006 only, however I want to stay for some reasons in the USA for another 2-3 months more before I leave? Can I do so?

I have a separate valid B1 visa valid till 2010? If I can't do it in L1 visa, can I use B1 visa to do the same?

Please let me know what are my options which can help me stay in the US for a few more months despite not working with my current L1 visa employer after Jul, 2006?

If you have B1 and successfully do either of the followings, you can stay.

1. You reenter the US with B1.
2. you change your status from L to B in the US(you need to provide good reason to convince USCIS for this).
