The A# is not what is needed. You need the Case number assigned by the Service Center. You can see the case number on the front of the check (there are FAQs about it). Please keep in mind that some applicants never saw their case status...
There is frontlog in all service centers now. Only thing you can do for now is see when your cheque is cashed. Be patient it could still take a few weeks more.
The online system to track is rarely every accurate and this is only if you are even ever entered in there. Mine was never entered in there at all. So even INS states that it's not usefull for anything.
Either they should just remove it or actually start updating it for everyone. In the mean time, it basically will tell you nothing of your status unless you're one of the very few that actually got entered and had it maintained...
