Status "CURRENT"

What does the status "CURRENT" mean?
For example, if I look at May, 2012 Bulletin, i can see that the cut-off number for EU is 40,000. If I look at the next bulletin (June, 2012), I see "CURRENT" for EU. Does it mean that there are no more visas available and only selectees with numbers < 40,000 may proceed with their application for a GC?

From what I've gathered, it means that they stop going by CN order to call you for an interview so even the highest CN can get appointment dates before the September 30 deadline. So in your case, it means that all those who submitted their DS-122 and DS-230 forms to KCC were called up for an interview even if their CN were sky-high. "Current" is a good thing. That's what we hope to see!

What is the deadline for submitting DS-122 and DS-230?

There is technically no deadline (well, September 30, 2014 would be one lol), but the earlier you send it in the better. They can't process you and assign an appointment date without receipt of those forms. Until they receive your forms, they have absolutely no way of knowing if you are intending to interview or not. I sent mine in yesterday afternoon and they should receive it tomorrow. I personally wouldn't wait more than another week (at most) if you have a high case number, it may make a difference at the end.

CURRENT means that all selectees who received a winner notification and who send their paperwork to KCC before June (looks like it is a kind of deadline for KCC to still consider your file) can either proceed with their AOS with USCIS or can receive an appointment to a consulate through KCC. Does anyone know if KCC has ever not arranged appointments to high CN numbers which are CURRENT?

Current basically means the KCC has done away with the quota/cut-off exercise and all remaining numbers/selectees (who sent their forms back) will be eligible for an interview.

Case No - DV2013AF0007XXXX (applied the first time and got it the first time - lucky me lol)
Entry Checked - 1st May 2012
Forms Sent To KCC - 10th May 2012
Received By KCC - 12th May 2012
Confirmation From KCC - 25th May 2012 after I sent them an email
2nd NL - Not Yet
Police Clearance - Not Yet
Medicals - Not Yet
Interviews - Hopefully in mid-August
Visa Pick up - Hopefully in mid-August
Port of Entry - New York JFK

Yes, that's it. The only big question is how many winning entries are left when they consider they are done with the cutoff exercise. Are there just a few hundreds, or thousands winning entries left?

There are still quite a few thousand(s) entries remaining in the grand scheme of things. Not everyone who gets an interview is guaranteed a visa and there will also be people who don't follow through from the selection point onwards or people who are fraudulent cases or people who don't have the qualifications or financial requirements.

The point is once the KCC goes Current on the visa bulletin that means everyone else who hasn't been called up for an interview (except for the specific countries with case number cut-offs) will be granted an interview if those people submitted their forms after selection.

Do you mean June, 2013 or June, 2014?
If I notify KCC that I wanna do AOS, does it take 60-90 days to transfer all stuff to a USCIS office? After transferring everything to USCIS, is there any other delays associated with AOS? (For example, all other stuff at USCIS will be much slower than CP...)

Where did you read that JUNE 2013 is the deadline for the initial DV2014 paperwork? Or do you mean June 2014?

On some official web page, it says to send the DSP-122 by june, I believe, 2014. June 2013 is not a deadline by any means for DV2014 winners.

For AOS, after you send your DSP-122 to KCC, they will send you an e-mail acknowledging your choice to do AOS, after that KCC does not really care about you anymore. You have to send your I-485 package to USCIS when your number becomes current. After that, you start waiting until USCIS gives you an interview, which could be 60-90 days from the time they received your package.

In other words, if the bulletin says "CURRENT" in August, it's too late to send I-485 to USCIS, right? So, AOS does not work for high numbers, does it?

There is no way of saying that. Your chances of getting a GC will be very low if you end up sending your I485 in August, but it is not zero. USCIS does its best to give these visas by the deadline, and they are aware that there is more pressure towards the end. Having said that, you should be calling them like every day to get your case going. There are stories about people getting their AOS interviews on September 30th. If you think you can do CP without some dire consequences, you should consider that. Also remember, nobody knows how the case numbers will proceed this year. You can wait until September or October to have a feeling about the progression, and then decide what you want to do.

But I doubt KCC and NVC have time to proceed quickly, so you get a visa before the Sep 30 deadline

Hi,

when do they send a confirmation letter/email for receiving the forms?

thanks
Thom

I don't think they send anything until it's time for your appointment date notification. After about a month since you sent the forms, you can email them to ask if they received them, and they'll reply to you.
