Hello Everyone:
My H1B is expiring this October and my lawyer advised me to start using my H1B instead of renewing the H1B. My EAD is approved and i have the new card. I was wondering does anyone know the procedure of how to convert the status with INS from H1 to EAD. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Matt

Do you mean, "... start using EAD instead ..."?

All you have to do is contact your company's HR department and submit a new I9 form. You will need to show 3 forms of identification (including work authorization of any type). Show your EAD at that time. I guess they will contact INS (you don't have to worry).

If ever

you need to get out of the country... you can only come back on
Advance parole document.
Otherwise.. you cannot leave United States till you get your green card approval.
That is my understanding.

Yes, akm485, that understanding is correct. But you certainly do not need AP to be able to use EAD. AP is optional. You confused me by saying "make sure you have an approved advance parole if you start using your EAD..." :)

Thanks!
