Status cannot be found

Hi Morning,

I did the 'nuc proc tunc' before I got the GC. Just want to share some of my experience with you. I was just like you hoping they did not notice my marriage status changes. But after reading the imm. law throughly, I found the part for the secondary to turn to principal. I submitted the application in April 2004. I know the procedure more than the asylum officer as there were not many such cases. The interview and the decision were easy and simple for just making sure no cheating involved. The bad part was that they called my I485 from Nebraska mistakenly. Here are more details in timeline:

2004. 4 - file the application to the local asylum office
2004. 4 - application lost
2004. 5 - application returned to me from the Nebraska CIS.
local asylum office made the first mistake to send it to Nebraska.
I didn't blame them because they seldom had this kind of cases.

I went there in person to hand in the case in the office
2004. 6 - I noticed they ordered my I485 case from the Nebraska CIS.
It was the second mistake they made. I was so worried about it as the case had been in line since 2000
2004. 7 - interview scheduled and initial approval in 1 week.
simple and smooth
waited for 4 months for FBI Background clearance though. And should be only 2 weeks as per the officer

2004. 12 - got the final approval.
I sent letters and called them many times to make sure they transfer my I485 back to Nebraska, but not Vermont or somewhere else.

2005. 4 - got notice my I485 case was back to Nebraska
However the cases with similiar NDs were being approved massively.

I think I was a little unlucky filing the nuc pro tunc. I thought it should not take more than 3 months. But I was wrong.

This is my story to share with you and wish you good luck.

Congratulations Vevey.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I appreciate it a lot. :) What kind of questions did they ask you and was it in the local office or in the asylum office? Thank you.

I was asked if I could fix his computer problems during the interview. The officer had some problems using it. I am not kidding. He took a copy of IDs and then followed the instructions in the booklet to set up an independent case for me. That was it.

You are already in asylum status. Althouth using the same form, you are not re-applying. You don't need to provide any details of evidence in this application. You don't need to have had experienced any suffering from your home country for this application.

You mean all I need to do is to fill out new I-589 and send it back without enclosing divorce paperers etc? Thanks. I may sound stupid, but I received just a regular asylum application and no special instructions how to fill it out for nunc pro tunc and I'm not in the mind reading business. This all is very confusing.
