status adjustment for F1 holders

Hi there

I am student on F1 and my wife is filing papers for me for GC

I just have a question regarding adjustment of status

I wanna leave the school as early as possible
so is it possible to directly get status adjustment after paper filing and yes how come?

and if no how much time it will take?

Your wife has to be a US citizen if you want to directly go to adjustment of status.

You can stop studying as soon as the I-485 is submitted, but just be prepared to defend your decision at your AOS interview.

Wait until you get the I-485 receipt. And like TC said, prepare for potential grilling at the interview. A rapid transition from F-1 to AOS creates the impression that the F-1 was just a stopgap until you could permanently immigrate (but it shouldn't be a problem if you entered F-1 status a long time ago). Aren't you going to at least finish the semester? It's already paid for.

but I am medical graduate and looking for my residency post grad MD degree

so that i have to do some experience in hospital
and due to that I have to move to other place and I will not able to attend the college
