Statement of need letter

Hello all,

I am a physician from India and I am about to start my residency on a J1 visa. Could someone please let me know the best way to get the statement of need letter from the Ministry of Health in India. What are the contents of this letter? Is there a standard letter of some sort? Where does one mail the request? How long does it take to get it? My residency begins in the end of June, so I am a little anxious about this. Any information will be much appreciated.

this is a good cause to get the indian mission in the usa to have a look at, cause this formality of looking up a list and giving a letter shd be done more widely in and out of the country.I got it from Delhi in mid 90\'s.Ministry of health gave it to me in a day.Good luck.Things must have changed since, I hope, for the better!
