Starting the fellowship after residency on j1

Dear All,

I wanted to know how feasible/possible it is to get into a fellowship position just after doing teh residency on J1?? how easy/difficult it is to extend the J1 for the fellowship???
also after the fellowship ...can we get into teh waiver process because by that time we'll be termed as specialists???

I apologise if this is a query asked on several occasions earlier too...

my query was also pertaining to the combined residency of 5 years..after that ..how can we manage to get into a fellowship of say 3 years??(provided we still have energy left after 5 years of grilling :D) ...can we extend the J1 beyond 7th year?? will the fellowship program panicking at this??

It is possible

It is possible to extend it. However, I would check with other folks who have done it. I have seen the 7 yr limit extended to 8 in the past.
