Starting GC process - Does the employer need to post my job again?

Hello
I have a Masters degree with 1 yr exp. I have requested my employer to start my GC process. I had the following queries:

1. I heard that if the employer starts the GC process within 18 months of hiring the employee then he does not have to repost the job? Is that correct?

2. How could reposting the job potentially affect my position?

3. Is it best to start the GC as early as possible or do I need to wait for a certain period before its started?

Thanks.

The employer needs to first request a PWD and then recruit for the job. Forget anything prior to that. At the most these steps can be done at the same time - however that requires that the PWD comes out alright. Further any PERM recruitment is good only up to 180 days after posting, so scratch 18 months.

How could it? What do you mean with that question?

There's no need to wait for anything. Remember GCs can be filed even for people who are not working for the company. GC is for future employment. Since GC usually takes a long time it is best to start ASAP.

I meant: Upon reposting the job and x number of people apply for it, is it the employer's job to prove that no other person qualifies except me? What would happen if the employer is not able to make a solid argument for it?
