Start Date of Approved EAD

This is for all those who applied for EAD renewal about 3 months prior to end of their old EADs in the past 3-4 months.

I read in one of the threads that the start date of the new EAD (for those whose EAD approval came after the end date of their current EAD) corresponded to the end date of the old/current EAD.

Is this also true for those whose new EADs got approved prior to the end of their old EADS?

thanks in advance for all your responses.

It all depends on if you have approved 485 or 140.
A> If you have approved 485 they yes it is possible. Because then you will not need an EAD.
B> If however you have 140 but not 485 then you are out of luck. Because I just beat you hands down in giving irrelevent stupid opinion that sounds like a thoughtful one.

If your new EAD approval happens well before the expiration of the prev EAD, then the new one will have the new approval date (current date) as the starting date, and not the day after expiration of the prev EAD. So you would have some overlap time with the two EADs if your new approval comes fast. This might be a strategy for the USCIS to collect more $$$.

maybe you thought that this was a competition but guess what you are lucked out. unfortunately you don't win a prize or get an approved EAD because not only you need a lawyer to file an EAD but you need to file an EAD for you wife.

Maybe, you can go banging your head again..

Raj,

Thanks taking the time for the response.
This is not my first renewal and I have been there before.

The new EAD start date will be your approval date. Your old/previous EAD end date will be irrelevent for the new EAD start date.

Renewal date for EAD

Renewal date for EAD depends on where it is issued.
Some places give you approval date (VSC, Baltimore local office, my family experience) and you then have overlap (we had every year overlap up to 3 months). Others give you start date next day after expiration of old EAD - info from my friends from TSC, I am not sure if this is TSC or local (Dallas) office.
