Anybody used courtesy copy of i-485 approval for stamping? Can one use courtesy copy for stamping or we need the original which the lawyer receives.

Yes, Can use the courtesy copy

Just today got my Passport stamped at Chicago INS using the Courtesy copy. No questions asked. I just confirmed that the Card would be sent to my home address on the courtesy copy(had a change of address recently and my approval notice had the new address) and the lady replied - "Yes". When I asked how long it would take for the card, she said "6 to 12 months".
Even our attorney asked me to use the Courtesy copy for stamping - she did not mail the original letter.
Hope this helps. All the Best. :)

Original is not required....

Courtesey Copy is very much OK for INS for stamping. Even if you give Original for stamping you don't loose anything.

After all you need is 'temp perm res. stamp', which is more than sufficient and all approval papers are for your records only, no one asks about that.
