Stamping in Calgary?

Hey All - I have an appointment at the US Consulate in Calgary towards the end of this month. I have seen some messages on different forums regarding the timing of the return of the passport. Just wanted to touch base with someone who got their Visa stamped recently to make sure that they return your passport the same day. My confirmation letter says that they strive to return the passport at 3 pm the same day but for my own peace of mind I wanted to hear it from someone who did get it the same day.

Hi,

we got our visa stamped in canada last week and they returned it the next day. It was the same case with everyone who had their visa stamped on that day. So i donot think they would give the passport back the very same day but ofcourse they give it back the next day.

did you get your visa stamped at Calgary? In my confirmation letter it does say that the passport will be ready to pick up the same day so does this link http://www.amcits.com/calgary.asp ..

Any thoughts? I am trying to book my tickets and any information would be greatly appreciated!
 
nope, did it in ottawa. But if you are really booking tickets, I would really suggest go for the next day because in most of the places where my friends also did( Ottawa, qc,toronto, montreal ), we all got it the next day only. I never heard of anyone getting it the same day
 
calgary stamping

i got my visa stamped and returned to me the same day in calgary at 3:30 pm.
Calgary almost always returns the passport the same day to you.

However, if you want to exercise caution, booking return tickets any time after next day 3:30 pm is always a good idea and calgary is nice to visit.
 
hey thanks for the information. My appointment is on a Friday, the only reason I took an appointment on Friday is because they stated that they return the passport the same day else I will have to stay till Monday!

When did you get your visa stamped? How was your experience .. would appreciate any info/suggestions you could share?

Also, I am wondering what would be a good answer if you are asked why did you come to Canada for stamping and not your home country? What did you guys who got your Visa successfully stamped answer?
